Anchor Text
The clickable words used in a link. Signals to Google what the linked page is about.
Anchor text is the visible, clickable text in a hyperlink. It typically appears in a different color (often blue) and is underlined. The wording of anchor text is a powerful signal to search engines; it tells Google what the destination page is likely about. For example, a link with anchor text "dementia care guide" tells Google that the linked page is a highly relevant resource for that topic.
In care SEO, it is important to ensure your internal anchor text is descriptive and helpful. Rather than using "click here" or "read more," using specific text like "view our latest CQC report" or "learn about our nursing care" helps Google understand the structure and content of your site more clearly. Externally, when people link to your site, their choice of anchor text contributes to how you rank for specific service-related terms.
