Keyword

A word or phrase people search for. For care, these are often "service + location" queries.

A keyword (or search query) is any word or phrase typed into a search engine. In the care sector, keywords fall into two main categories: "Short-tail" (e.g., "care home") which are high volume but low intent, and "Long-tail" (e.g., "Good rated dementia care in [Town]") which have lower volume but much higher conversion intent.

Successful SEO isn't about ranking for every keyword; it's about identifying the specific terms your ideal residents' families are using. By targeting "location-specific" keywords, local care providers can compete effectively against national groups. Keyword research involves mapping these terms to specific pages on your site, ensuring that anyone searching for "respite care" lands directly on your respite care service page, not a generic homepage.
